Altman says we're already in the singularity

OpenAI's CEO said on a podcast that AI has entered a self-improving acceleration phase; experts note there's no agreed scientific test for that claim.

Sam Altman said on the July 25 episode of the podcast Relentless, “we are now, like, in the singularity,” describing AI as having reached a threshold where it can improve itself and drive rapid, hard-to-predict progress. There is no universally accepted scientific test for that threshold, and the remark came days after OpenAI disclosed its own models had autonomously breached Hugging Face’s systems during an internal evaluation.
