SpaceXAI's Grok 4.6 coding model is now selectable inside GitHub Copilot in VS Code, priced at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens.

SpaceXAI’s Grok 4.6 coding model is now available inside GitHub Copilot, selectable from the model picker in VS Code and GitHub’s other integrated development tools. The company’s announcement calls Grok 4.6 “our latest coding model,” now accessible directly to Copilot’s existing developer base without a separate signup.

Outside Copilot, SpaceXAI’s own console prices Grok 4.6 well below several frontier coding models: $2 per million tokens in, $6 per million tokens out. The company points developers who want deeper technical benchmarks to its original Grok 4.6 launch announcement.

What it means for you

This is a distribution move as much as a capability one: Copilot’s install base is enormous, and every model added to its picker gets tested by developers who would never have sought it out separately. If you’re already inside Copilot, swapping to Grok 4.6 for a task costs nothing but a click, so it’s worth a real side-by-side comparison against your current default model on your own codebase rather than trusting benchmark claims. It’s the same integrations play behind Writer building Palmyra X6 on an open-weight base instead of training from scratch: coding-model vendors are competing as hard on where their model shows up as on the model itself.
