Runway launches a generative-media router
Runway's new Media Router picks the best image, video, or audio model for a job across its own and third-party models as the market gets crowded.
Runway launched Media Router on its Runway Dev developer platform, a tool that automatically selects an image, video, or audio generation model based on whichever priority a developer sets, quality, speed, or cost, drawing on both Runway’s own models and third-party ones from labs including Google, ByteDance, and Alibaba.
Chief product officer Anthony Maggio framed it as a distribution play:
The routing really fits into that overall promise of being the easiest one-stop shop for developers to integrate with any type of generative media model.
It’s the same model-routing pattern already spreading through coding tools, arriving in generative media as Runway’s last dedicated frontier video model shipped back in December.
