Airwallex raises $320M for finance agents

Airwallex raised a $320M Series H at an $11B valuation, led by Addition, to build AI agents that run business finance and an agentic consumer wallet, Airi.

Airwallex, the cross-border payments company, raised a $320 million Series H on June 25 at an $11 billion valuation, up from $8 billion in December. Addition led the round, with Baillie Gifford, QED Investors, T. Rowe Price, and Amex Ventures among those joining.

The pitch is explicitly about AI agents handling money. Airwallex says it is building hundreds of purpose-built agents that read across a business’s payments, treasury, and spend data to run multi-step finance work, from expense approvals to policy checks. It announced two products alongside the raise: T:0, an AI-native platform meant to run bookkeeping, forecasting, tax, and reporting; and Airi, a consumer wallet with agentic, one-click checkout.

What it means for you

Agent-initiated payments are the part of “autonomous finance” that should make any operator slow down. The useful question is not whether an agent can pay an invoice but what stops it from paying the wrong one. Airwallex’s own framing leans on approvals and policy checks with human oversight, which is the right instinct even before the products prove out.

If you are watching this space, the money is following the same agent-guardrail thread as Runlayer’s $30M round and the same-day $200M for Quantifind’s governed risk middleware. The liability questions are real, so who is liable when your AI is wrong is worth reading first.
