Anthropic published a case study on July 6 covering Alberta’s government deployment of Claude Code across 27 provincial ministries, 1,280 applications, and 3,400 code repositories covering tax records and social services. Running around 50 autonomous agents in parallel using both Opus and Sonnet, the team scanned 466 million lines of code in 20 hours and built persistent red-team and blue-team agents that now check each application against 95 security controls per cycle. As a secondary result, a legacy Java subsidy portal originally requiring five months to build was rebuilt in four to five days. The JADEPUFFER agentic ransomware case from yesterday illustrated what happens when legacy government infrastructure goes unpatched; Alberta’s approach is the proactive version of the same risk.
