Anthropic's CEO says AI's public backlash is 'fundamentally a crisis of trust,' responding to investor criticism and defending Anthropic's regulation stance.
Responding to investor Gavin Baker’s on-air criticism of the AI industry, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said the growing public backlash against AI is “fundamentally a crisis of trust.” He went further, conceding that critics have a point:
By far the most accurate criticism of AI companies including Anthropic is that we haven’t yet delivered on our big promises to benefit the world.
He rejected the argument that AI safety regulation, including California’s SB 53 transparency law, automatically favors large incumbents, saying Anthropic has pushed for rules that advantage smaller competitors over frontier labs like itself.
