Anthropic is in early talks to acquire Israeli video and world-model startup Decart AI for about $6B, roughly 50% above its May valuation.
Anthropic is in preliminary talks to acquire Decart AI, an Israeli startup known for real-time video-generation and “world model” technology, for roughly $6 billion, according to Bloomberg. The deal hasn’t been finalized and could still fall through. Decart builds models like Lucy and Oasis that can modify live video feeds and simulate interactive physical environments, and it also makes software that helps chips run AI workloads more efficiently, the piece Anthropic is reportedly most interested in to scale inference for Claude’s growing demand.
Decart was valued at nearly $4 billion after a $300 million round in May, backed by Nvidia and Radical Ventures; a $6 billion price would be roughly a 50% premium over that. If it closes, this would be Anthropic’s largest acquisition to date, and Decart’s team would join Anthropic’s inference and performance organization rather than run as a separate product line.
What it means for you
Nothing changes yet, this is a reported early-stage talk, not a signed deal, and labs walk away from disclosed talks often enough that you shouldn’t plan around it. The strategic signal is worth noting regardless: a foundation-model company shopping for chip-efficiency and inference-optimization technology, rather than a chatbot or agent product, says compute cost per token is becoming as competitive a battleground as raw model capability. If you’re evaluating vendor lock-in risk with Claude, this is one more data point that Anthropic’s near-term roadmap is about serving existing demand more cheaply, not just shipping new capabilities, in the same vein as its recent Theseus data center joint venture.
