Anthropic pauses Agent SDK billing change
On June 15, the day it was due, Anthropic paused a change that would have moved Claude Agent SDK usage off subscription limits onto a separate credit.
Anthropic had set June 15 as the day it would split off automated Claude usage from regular subscription plans. Under the announced change, the Claude Agent SDK, the headless claude -p command, Claude Code GitHub Actions, and third-party apps signing in with a Claude subscription would stop drawing on normal Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise limits and instead share a separate monthly credit, from $20 on Pro up to $200 on the top tiers, with anything beyond that billed at usage-based API rates.
On June 15 itself, Anthropic paused it. Its help center now says it is pausing the Agent SDK changes, and that this usage still counts against your normal Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise limits. The only reason it gives is that it is reworking the plan to better fit how people build on Claude subscriptions.
Why this matters
For now nothing changes: there is no credit to claim, and scripts, cron jobs, and CI pipelines keep running on your plan as before. But the direction is clear. Anthropic tried to meter the programmatic, agent-style usage that flat subscriptions made cheap, and it will likely try again in some form.
