Cohere released Transcribe Arabic on July 7, an open-source Arabic speech-recognition model under an Apache 2.0 license. Cohere reports a 25.87 word-error rate on the Hugging Face Arabic ASR leaderboard, beating Meta’s OmniASR by 2.45 points and OpenAI’s Whisper by 11, with native Arabic speakers preferring its output over Whisper’s in 95.8% of blind tests.
