Musk: Grok 4.6 (2T params) trains next week
xAI's next model is a 2 trillion-parameter step up from Grok 4.5, aimed at closing the gap with Kimi K3 while keeping Grok's low per-task cost.
Elon Musk said on July 18 that xAI’s next model, expected to be called Grok 4.6, will finish its initial training run next week. At 2 trillion parameters, it’s a step up from Grok 4.5’s 1.5 trillion, built to close the gap with Moonshot’s 2.8-trillion-parameter Kimi K3 while keeping Grok 4.5’s roughly $0.31 per-task cost edge. It’s still training, not shipped.
