Spectro Cloud raises $100M Series D

Spectro Cloud raised a $100M+ Series D led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives to grow Palette, its platform for running AI infrastructure in production.

Spectro Cloud closed an oversubscribed Series D of more than $100 million on July 15, led by Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, with AMD Ventures, Ericsson, LG Technology Ventures, and Maximus also putting money in. Total funding now stands at $260 million. The San Jose company, founded by CEO Tenry Fu and CTO Saad Malik in 2019, sells Palette, a Kubernetes-based control plane for running AI infrastructure across data centers, edge sites, and on-premises environments, plus PaletteAI, a layer launched last October for managing GPU clusters, AI factories, and distributed inference.

Customers named in the announcement include the US Air Force, T-Mobile, Airbus, and Yum Brands, a mix of enterprise, public sector, neocloud, and sovereign-cloud accounts. Goldman Sachs managing director Mike Reilly put the bet in blunt terms:

Infrastructure has become one of the biggest bottlenecks to production AI adoption, and consistent management platforms will be essential as workloads scale.

The company plans to put the money toward PaletteAI’s cost-control and governance features and toward expansion in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.

What it means for operators

Spectro Cloud is chasing the same problem as Together AI’s $800M raise and Nvidia’s GPU-backstop financing for neoclouds: once GPU capacity exists, someone has to keep it utilized and the token bill under control, and that layer is attracting serious capital regardless of which model or chip sits underneath. If your org is running mixed GPU fleets across more than one environment, a control-plane vendor with $260 million behind it and Air Force and Airbus references is worth a look before you build that governance layer yourself.
