General Intuition raises at $6B for robots

General Intuition's valuation jumped 2.6x in two months to $6B as the video-game-trained agent startup pushes its models into robotics.

General Intuition has raised a new round led by Valor Equity Partners, Point72 Ventures and Seven Seven Six, with existing backers Khosla Ventures and General Catalyst also participating, TechCrunch reported August 24. The round values the company at $6 billion pre-money, a 2.6x jump from the $2.3 billion valuation it set just two months earlier in a $320 million Series B. TechCrunch did not disclose the new round’s size.

CEO Pim de Witte spun the company out of Medal, a video-game clip-sharing platform, last October, and has built foundation models on hundreds of millions of hours of gameplay footage paired with “action labels,” records of what buttons players pressed and when. The new capital is earmarked for pushing that same model toward robotic embodiments, with spending directed at compute (General Intuition is partnering with CoreWeave) and engineering hires. Khosla Ventures’ Vinod Khosla said the action-label approach will be “a key part of the emergence of intuition,” letting models generalize to tasks they weren’t explicitly trained on.

What it means for you

General Intuition is one of several teams betting that human control inputs, captured at massive scale from games rather than robots, can shortcut the data problem that has slowed embodied AI. If you track world models as the next data play, this is the game-footage variant of that bet, and the valuation math (2.6x in eight weeks, on no disclosed product yet in the physical world) tells you investors are pricing the thesis, not results. Worth watching before you assume gameplay-trained agents are ready for real hardware.
