Kimi K2.7 lands in GitHub Copilot
Kimi K2.7 Code is now in Copilot's model picker as the first open-weight model, running on Azure, available for Pro tiers with Business and Enterprise opt-in.
Moonshot AI’s Kimi K2.7 Code model is now available in GitHub Copilot’s model picker, announced July 1. It is the first open-weight model to appear in the picker and runs on Azure infrastructure. Pro, Pro+, and Max accounts can select it immediately; Business and Enterprise tiers get access in the coming weeks, subject to an admin enabling the “Kimi K2.7 Code” policy explicitly.
The model is available across VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains, Xcode, Eclipse, and GitHub.com.
The “open-weight model on Azure” framing is the detail to note. Copilot’s model picker has historically featured closed commercial models. Kimi K2.7 being the first open-weight model in the selection suggests the picker may evolve into something closer to a routing layer where open and closed models compete on task fit.
