Reid Hoffman's Prentis raises $100M
Prentis, an AI lab building computer-use agents for office work, is closing a $100M round at a $1B valuation and claims a 10x cost edge on benchmarks.
Prentis, an AI lab specializing in computer-use automation, is negotiating a fresh funding round that would bring in $100 million and value the company at $1 billion, TechCrunch reported July 24. The company was co-founded in April by Ritankar Das, previously founder of holding company Titan and UC Berkeley’s youngest University Medalist in over a century, alongside LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman and Zynga founder Mark Pincus.
Prentis trains models to watch how office workers move through documents and systems, then builds agents that operate a computer directly to handle end-to-end tasks like insurance claims processing and customs duty exceptions without a human in the loop. Its Hive-32B model reportedly beats OpenAI’s GPT-5.4 and Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.6 on the WindowsAgentArena and ScreenSpot-v2 computer-use benchmarks, at roughly a tenth of the per-task cost of competitor APIs. The company says it has already signed customer contracts worth up to $50 million and hired more than 25 employees from OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Meta, Tencent, and Alibaba.
Cost claims from a company raising its own funding round deserve a skeptical read until independently reproduced, but the founder pairing and the specificity of the benchmark claims make this one worth tracking.
