Wrtn Technologies raised 100 billion won ($72M) in Series C funding, becoming the first Korean AI service startup to cross a 1 trillion won valuation.

South Korean generative-AI platform Wrtn Technologies raised 100 billion won, about $72.2 million, in a Series C round reported August 26, valuing the company at more than 1 trillion won, the first Korean AI service startup to cross that mark, the Korea Times reported. New money came from Coreline Ventures and Eugene Asset Management, with existing investors Goodwater Capital, Antler Global, Woori Venture Partners, and Korea Development Bank returning too. Bloomberg separately reported the round values Wrtn near $870 million; the gap against roughly $722 million from a straight won conversion likely reflects different exchange-rate snapshots rather than a different deal.

Wrtn has now raised 230 billion won in total. The company expects 2026 revenue north of 200 billion won, versus 47.1 billion won the year before, and says a North American launch back in May is already pulling in 10 billion won a month, just three months in. CEO Lee Se-young said the funds go toward global expansion and further building out Wrtn’s services.

What it means for you

Wrtn’s jump in revenue, more than quadrupling year over year on the company’s own figures, is a useful data point on how fast a regional AI consumer app can scale once it has product-market fit, and its early North American traction suggests the playbook travels. If you’re building or evaluating AI products for markets outside the US, Wrtn’s approach, building deep local traction in Korea first before an international push, is a more tested path than launching globally on day one.
