AI access erodes willingness to say IDK
A 3,132-person study finds just having AI access nearly erased people's willingness to say I don't know, even when accuracy was financially rewarded.
Across five experiments (N=3,132), Marcoccia, Quattrociocchi, and Capraro found that merely having AI access nearly eliminated participants’ willingness to decline answering. Participants answered more questions but were correct about a third as often as without AI. Rewarding accuracy over guessing reduced but did not eliminate the effect.
