Cyera buys identity-security startup for $1B

Cyera signed a letter of intent to acquire Oasis Security for about $1 billion, mostly cash, adding non-human identity security to its data-security platform.

Cybersecurity company Cyera signed a letter of intent on July 28 to acquire Israeli identity-security startup Oasis Security for roughly $1 billion, with the majority of the roughly $700 million cash portion paid up front and the remainder in Cyera shares. The deal still needs a binding agreement and closing conditions; once complete, Oasis will run as an independent unit inside Cyera, continuing its focus on securing non-human identities, the credentials, tokens and service accounts that AI agents and automated systems use to authenticate.

Cyera, founded in 2021 by CEO Yotam Segev and CTO Tamar Bar-Ilan, has raised about $2.3 billion total, including a $600 million round earlier this year at a $12 billion valuation. Oasis Security has raised roughly $195 million since its 2022 founding, capped by a $120 million Series B this past March that Craft Ventures led, with Cyberstarts, Sequoia Capital and Accel also participating. Cyera says the combination pairs its data-security platform with identity management and access-permission controls purpose-built for AI agents.

What it means for operators

This is the second AI-agent-identity deal in as many weeks, following Neo’s $100M raise to police what agents are allowed to do once they’re running, and it lands the same week NVIDIA’s Open Secure AI Alliance formed specifically around the security gaps agentic systems expose. A billion-dollar acquisition price for a three-year-old identity-security startup is a strong signal that buyers now treat “which credentials can my agents actually use” as core infrastructure, not an add-on. If you’re running production agents without a dedicated non-human-identity layer, this is the second data point this month suggesting the market has already priced that gap as a real liability.
