Meta AI gets a dedicated Mac app

Meta launched a Mac app for its AI chatbot that can see your shared screen and connect to Instagram, Facebook, and Google Workspace accounts.

Meta launched a dedicated Mac app for its AI chatbot this week, letting users share their screen with it so it can offer suggestions, answer questions, or generate content based on what’s visible, alongside dictation support. It’s a catch-up move: Google’s Gemini already offers screen sharing, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude both go further with dedicated desktop integrations of their own.

Alongside the app, Meta added business-facing capabilities across web, mobile, and Mac: the assistant can now connect directly to Instagram, Facebook, Meta ad accounts, and Google Workspace. Meta says it can analyze post reach, likes, shares, and saves to suggest what to post next, and pull account or web data to draft decks, docs, and spreadsheets.

What it means for you

The screen-sharing and account-connection features are the part worth pausing on before rollout: connecting Meta AI to a business’s ad accounts or Workspace gives it read access across those systems, which is a bigger grant than a typical chatbot conversation. If you manage social or ad accounts for a business, review exactly what Meta AI can see and act on before connecting it, the same way you’d audit any third-party app requesting OAuth access to Google Workspace. It follows Meta’s Q2 push toward personal agents for billions of users and lands the same week Meta had to pull ads for a nonconsensual deepfake app, a reminder that Meta’s ad and assistant platforms are scaling faster than its moderation.
